Fundraising Potential Guide
Use this guide to estimate how much your school, sports team, or nonprofit can raise with a SpreeShop merchandise campaign — before you launch.
The Fundraising Formula
Estimating your fundraising potential starts with four variables. Multiply them together to get your projected raise:
The Formula
Potential Raise =
# of Participants × Avg. Items per Person × Avg. Item Price × Fundraising %
# of Participants
The number of people who will have access to your store and are likely to purchase. For schools, this is your student body or parent count. For teams, it's players plus extended family. For nonprofits, it's your active donor and supporter list.
Avg. Items per Person
How many items does the average buyer purchase? For spirit wear campaigns, this is typically 1.2–1.8 items per buyer. For family-focused campaigns (back-to-school, team uniforms), it can be 2–3 items per household.
Avg. Item Price
The average selling price of items in your store. T-shirts typically sell for $22–$30. Hoodies for $45–$60. A mixed store often averages $28–$38 per item.
Fundraising %
The percentage of each sale that goes to your organization after production costs. With SpreeShop, you set your own prices and keep 100% of the margin. A typical setup yields 30–50% of the sale price as fundraising revenue.

What Drives Higher Results
- Personal outreach outperforms broadcast.A personal email from a coach or board member converts 3–5× better than a generic blast.
- A clear deadline creates urgency."Order by Friday" dramatically outperforms an open-ended store with no closing date.
- More products ≠ more revenue.A focused store of 4–6 strong items outperforms a sprawling catalog where buyers can't decide.
- Sharing your fundraising goal publicly increases conversion. Show progress. Let supporters see how close you are to your goal.
- Quality products at fair prices.Participants who feel they're getting good value are more likely to buy multiple items and share with others.
