Apparel Sizing Guide

Standard size charts for every style we carry, plus tips for measuring correctly and ordering the right quantity mix for bulk orders.

Unisex Sizing (XS–5XL)

All measurements in inches. Chest = circumference at fullest point. These are body measurements, not garment measurements.

Youth Sizing (YXS–YXL)

Youth sizing varies more by brand than adult sizing. Always refer to the garment-specific chart when available.

SizeApprox. AgeHeight (in)Chest (in)Waist (in)
YXS4–540–4420–2219–21
YS6–745–5023–2522–23

YL12–1457–6229–3226–28
YXL14–1663–6633–3629–31
Youth sizing tip: When a child is between sizes, size up. Kids grow quickly and a slightly larger uniform is far more comfortable than one that's too snug by mid-season.

Women's Fitted Sizing

Women's fitted styles run slimmer than unisex equivalents. If a customer is between sizes or prefers a more relaxed fit, recommend sizing up.

How to Measure Correctly

Use a soft measuring tape and measure against the body, not over clothing.

Chest / Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of the chest, parallel to the floor. Leave slight ease — don't pull tight.

Waist

Measure around the natural waist — the narrowest part of the torso, about one inch above the belly button.

Hip

Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, usually 7–9 inches below the natural waist.

Sleeve Length

Measure from the center back of the neck, across the shoulder, and down to the wrist with the arm slightly bent.

Bulk Order Tips

When ordering for groups — teams, schools, corporate swag — a few strategies help you get the size distribution right and avoid re-orders:

  • Add a 10–15% buffer in M and L sizes. These are typically the most common sizes and the most likely to be needed for late additions or replacements.
  • Ask for measurements, not size preferences. Self-reported preferences are less accurate than actual chest measurements. Provide a chart and ask participants to measure.
  • Run a SpreeShop group store. Let every participant order their own size directly. Eliminates guesswork entirely and ensures everyone gets the right fit.
  • Order extras in the most forgiving sizes. Extras in L and XL are easier to accommodate than extras in XS or 2XL.
  • For youth sports, add a one-size buffer per age group. Order one extra YM for every 8 YS ordered, and one extra YL for every 8 YM, as a buffer for growth and late additions.

Shrinkage Considerations

All cotton and cotton-blend garments will shrink somewhat during the first few washes.

FabricExpected shrinkageCare recommendation
100% cotton3–5%Cold wash, tumble dry low
50/50 cotton-poly1–3%Cold or warm wash, low heat dry
100% polyesterLess than 1%Cold wash, low heat or air dry
90/10 cotton-poly ring-spun2–4%Cold wash, tumble dry low
Tri-blend (cotton/poly/rayon)1–2%Cold wash, air dry preferred

For items washed frequently — youth sports uniforms, everyday tees — consider sizing up half a size to account for initial shrinkage, especially in 100% cotton garments.

Let Everyone Pick Their Own Size

SpreeShop group stores let every participant order in their correct size — no spreadsheets, no size guessing, no re-orders.
